The opportunity to escape for a few days with old friends is wonderful. The attraction of Bradford on Avon is that whatever the season there is so much to explore and so many things to do.
Leigh House is perfectly positioned to give you privacy in the rural countryside yet just a few minutes walk into town with its many restaurants, pubs and independent shops. Leave your car and hop on a train for 12 minutes to Bath and take the strain out of finding somewhere to park.
At the House there is WiFi & SKY, a cosy wood burning stove for winter and the sauna in the Dairy to warm you up after a brisk walk in the countryside. The playroom has a chill out area with sofas, plasma TV and Wii, as well as table tennis and table football. When the weather is kinder, there is the 1.5 acre paddock for BBQ’s and games.
There are several very good pubs within walking distance and Sunday Lunch out is a must. All the meat is sourced from local farms and the quality is excellent. Check out The Fox at Broughton Gifford, The Muddy Duck at Monkton Farleigh, Seven Stars at Winsley and our own Castle pub in Bradford on Avon.
National Trust properties are plenty, both in the immediate neighbourhood and slightly further afield. The Courts, Chalfield Manor, Westwood Manor and Laycock Abbey are within a few minutes drive. Dyrham Park, Tyntesfield, Stourhead and Montecute House are a little further away.
Catered Dinner Parties are a good way to take the strain out of cooking for a large group and Arlene from the local Fat Fowl restaurant will come and prepare and serve a meal for you.
This area is particularly good for walking and cycling but please see the Rest and Play section for lots of other ideas.
