About Us

We moved to Bradford on Avon in the Autumn of 2010 in order to revitalise Leigh House and create what is now a fabulous boutique holiday rental property with ensuite facilities throughout sleeping from 2 to 15 people. We love this beautiful countryside that surrounds us.

The children go to school in Bath and help out at weekends with the sit on mower, cleaning out the chickens and taking the dog on long walks in the neighbouring fields.

In taking on this Tudor farmhouse we have restored the fundamentals of drains and guttering and then moved onto the more exciting projects such as converting the Old Dairy. When we moved in, two donkeys had just moved out! We really had to start from scratch, removing animal pens and the side wall of the Dairy and even jack hammering up the concrete floor. However, earlier this year the new gym and games room came into being and we are thrilled with the results. The lovely large sauna was the icing on the cake.

Next on the project list is reestablishing a large pond on our land and continuing work in the Victorian walled garden.

The Neighbourhood

Bradford on Avon has been a crossing point for the River Avon for centuries and this is reflected in the wealth of historic buildings in the town. The tiny Saxon church beside the river is over 900 years old and still has plaster angels in the walls. The enormous Tithe Barn at Barton Farm is a wonderful example of 14th Century architecture and is used for film sets, plays and even Halloween ghost story evenings! In wandering through The Shambles or along Church Lane you will pass buildings of virtually every age for the last 600 years, some of which are now cosy pubs or restaurants.

Living in Bradford on Avon has been a wonderfully inclusive experience and there are always things going on from the weekly market to Secret Garden days where homeowners open their gardens to the public. There was huge excitement that the Olympic Torch was carried through the town in 2012. In 2014 we had the Tour de Britain and not forgetting we were named “City for a Day” by Radio5 Live earlier in the year and the programme was broadcast live from the town.
